2021.10.18 04:11 PartyNumerous Does the vaccine mandate still apply to those who caught COVID
Do vaccine mandates apply to people who have caught COVID recently? Or do they get a medical exemption for 6 months? Testing positive to COVID (unvaccinated) is definitely risky and not fun but would it benefit those who don't want to be vaccinated (but also don't want to lose their job)? At least, in 6 months, the mandate might be eased for certain industries if enough of the population has had the vaccine.

2021.10.18 04:11 roastbeefandeggs Openness and vulnerability
I've always been a private person. I'm not shy, just not interested in talking about myself. But I don't hide anything--when I'm asked I answer. Also yes I realize the irony of this post.
My work is 110% remote so I'm taking half a year to travel domestic, staying in one province one month each. Currently halfway done and in the past 3 months and 3 diff places I've decided to be open. Like no-filter speak-your-mind open. For once I let the mystery fade.
So when I meet people by the beach I show them who I am. When I meet people in the restobar I tell them personal stories that fit the drunken atmosphere. They see the good me and the great me, but also the bad, the worse and the worst. And it's working out for the best.
A few notable things when you're super vulnerable:
You get a dose of real confidence. When you're able to strike the right balance between openness and positive detachment, confidence is no longer like saying "They're gonna like me", instead it becomes "I don't care if they don't." Knowing exactly who you are is liberating.
People don't care about your achievements and your failures as much as you think. Or as much as you want them to. Everyone is focused on their own personal wins and losses. It's nice to talk about them but after that we all go back to our own little worlds. So set aside your insecurities, people are more forgiving than you realize.
Coffee buns are still super underrated. They're also super unrelated to being open.
Filtering out people you don't match with is automatic. You can try to please everybody, sure, if your plan is to be miserable. Instead, accept that when you're open you will make only a handful of people to like you. To me that is perfect because the ones that stay are your kind of people. If you want to have worthwhile friends, be open af.
People trust you. Freely opening yourself to others takes balls. They won't tell you but they take notice, and they respect you more now. The result is they become more open to you as well, which then calls for amazingly deep conversations. I always read here in Reddit that communication is key, but I think real connection is a better key.
Just some wake n bake offmychest as I finish this underrated coffee bun then pack my stuff and head off to my 4th province. I remember when I started and was packing for my first one I was just meh--bored even before starting the trip. Now I'm loving this nomadic adventure so much. Ang gastos lang putangina.

I'm a college student, growing up I read a lot because I preferred it to socializing. I got out of the habit but I feel alone now, what do you recommend for comfort/that weird stage where you feel like an adult and also a child all at once? I need a book that will be my friend.
Books I like: sharp objects, eat pray love, the art of asking, the call of the wild, the bell jar,

2021.10.18 04:11 camohorse My 16-year-old cockapoo mix dislocated his rear knee joint. Vet can’t see him till Tuesday…
It’s been a very tough week for me, and just when I thought I couldn’t hit rock bottom harder, I came home to find my elderly dog limping around, refusing to put his rear leg down. He was otherwise fine, but he was limping badly. ER vet isn’t available, and the regular vet is booked until Tuesday. I can’t stay home on Monday as I have college, so I’m not sure what to do for him.
I was thinking of giving him some dog relaxation meds and increasing his joint supplement to one dose instead of half. But, other than that, there’s not much else I can do except wait and hope.
Any advice? Experience? I’m really afraid he might not make it through his surgery (if he has to go under) because of his age, even though he is otherwise healthy for an old dog.
